Grand Opening
52 new hotel rooms & experiences
In early summer 2026, Great Northern’s vision will be fully realized with the opening of our new hotel. The hotel will add 52 new rooms, all delivered in the same uncompromising quality that defines the rest of Great Northern. This expansion allows us to welcome even more guests to Kerteminde — and to the many experiences that await them here.
The new hotel will also feature a brand-new event venue, “Gallery” – a multifunctional space for larger gatherings, meetings, and events.
In further addition, the facilities at Great Northern Spa will be naturally expanded with new treatment rooms and much more.
An Experience Beyond the Ordinary
– Both Physically and Mentally
Throughout the new construction, the goal has been to recreate the same atmosphere and character that guests already experience at Great Northern today. The quality of the materials is carefully carried over into the new building, even as several materials have been replaced with more sustainable alternatives. In general, all visible materials in the project are drawn directly from nature’s own palette — primarily wood, clay, and natural stone. Every material is selected for its durability and ability to develop a beautiful patina over time, while also being repairable if needed. This focus on maintainability is essential, as it significantly extends the building’s lifespan.

The new hotel has been thoughtfully designed to harmonize with Great Northern’s existing buildings and surrounding landscapes, drawing inspiration from the site’s distinctive characteristics, materials, and atmosphere. Nature has always played a central role at Great Northern — a role that will be further emphasized in the new hotel, where every detail is designed to bring guests even closer to the natural surroundings. The hotel itself is shaped like a gently curved bow embracing the landscape, allowing nature to come close and become an integrated part of the guest experience.
