Grand Opening
52 new hotel rooms & experiences
In early summer 2026, Great Northern’s ambitions will be completed with the opening of our new hotel. The hotel will add 52 new rooms, in the same uncompromising quality as the rest of Great Northern. The expansion provides the opportunity to offer even more guests a warm welcome to Kerteminde – and the experiences that await here.
The new hotel will also feature a brand-new event venue, “Gallery” – a multifunctional space for larger gatherings, meetings, and events.
In further addition, the facilities at Great Northern Spa will be naturally expanded with new treatment rooms and much more.
An Experience Beyond the Ordinary
– Both Physically and Mentally
In the new building, it has been a goal to create the same atmosphere and tone as the one you experience at Great Northern today. The qualities of the materials will therefore be carefully continued in the new building, although several will be replaced with materials that have a more sustainable profile. In general, all new visible materials in the project are directly from nature’s own palette, primarily wood, clay and natural stone. All new materials must have high durability and patina in a beautiful way, and they can be repaired if the need arises. We consider the possibility of maintenance to be very important as it extends the lifespan considerably.

The new hotel interacts closely with Great Northern’s existing buildings and landscapes, which is why the new building is designed based on the site’s strong characteristics, materials and atmosphere. Nature has always played a key role at Great Northern. This is only enhanced in the new hotel, where everything is designed to enhance the experience of nature. The design of the hotel is like a taut arch that embraces the landscape, allowing nature to come close and be experienced as an integral part of your hotel experience.
